The Natalma Stakes has a rich history dating back to 1965, the first year the race was contested. It was Ice Water, under the legendary Avelino Gomez, who took the inaugural running. 

Some notable names in Canadian racing circles have won the Natalma, including Fanfreluche, Rainbow Connection, La Lorgnette, Bessarabian, Dance Smartly and Alywow. 

Contested at one mile over the world-renowned E.P. Taylor Turf Course, the Natalma has produced more than its share of close finishes. 

Last year, it was Clearly Foxy, trained by Mark Casse and ridden by Jono Jones, who took the 43^rd running of the Natalma.
