  • Newfoundland native won his first Woodbine race aboard Café Paris on June 7, 1989, before leading all apprentice riders in Ontario with 88 wins
  • enjoyed a highly successful 1994 campaign at the Toronto oval, capturing 49 races and $671,757 in purse earnings
  • established himself as a legitimate professional in 1990, when he earned a leading apprentice title in Ontario
  • his 71 wins at the Toronto oval (fifth place) and 88 overall though, were not enough to overcome Mickey Walls in Sovereign Award voting
