Stop! It's 'Hammers' time in Charlie Barley

TORONTO, June 23 - Terry Hamilton's Hammers Terror, under Patrick Husbands, recorded the first added-money of his career, taking Saturday's ninth running of the $103,600 Charlie Barley Stakes, at Woodbine.

Sent off as the 2-1 second choice, Hammers Terror, trained by Michael Stidham, made his first trip to Woodbine a winning one, crossing the line a 3 3/4-length winner in the one-mile feature contested over a 'firm' E.P. Taylor Turf Course.

Excaper, second in last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf, finished second, as the even-money favourite, in his three-year-old debut. Drago's Best headed Jomelo for third.

The final time was 1:33.21.

It was the third win from eight career starts for Hammers Terror, a dark bay son of Artie Schiller, who notched the first victory of his 2012 campaign.

Hammers Terror paid $6.20, $2.80 and $2.50, combining with Excaper ($2.60, $2.20) for a $13.70 exactor. Drago's Best ($4.70) completed a $84.90 triactor.
