Earlier this year, Woodbine became a fully accredited member of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s (NTRA) Safety and Integrity Alliance following a complete review of our racing operations (Click Here to View Article).

Woodbine is suitably proud of the distinction, as the company is of its facilities, properties, racing surfaces, safety record and top quality racing.

In an effort to stay transparent on its safety record and operations, Woodbine will regularly publish statistics, offered independently by The Jockey Club and their Equine Injury Database (EID) program.

The EID, which grew out of a need identified at the first Welfare and Safety of the Racehorse Summit in 2006, was launched in 2008. It is part of an industry-wide emphasis on the protection of the health and welfare of its equine athletes, and the collection of data is the first step in the process of examining and preventing athletic injuries in the racehorse.

"Woodbine is well-regarded across North America and beyond for its safety record," said Steve Koch, Woodbine’s Vice-President of Thoroughbred Racing. "We present this data, collected and reported independently via the Ontario Racing Commission’s veterinary staff, to stress our efforts in the study and prevention of racehorse injuries at Woodbine."



Since June 2007, Woodbine has been reporting our injury information.  Our Equine Injury Database records are
available below for download in PDF format.
